BEWARE: Facebook Credit Card Scam Targeting Ready Mix Producers Resurfaces

Attention Ready Mix Producers: It's critical to exercise extra caution when processing credit card payments over the phone. We've seen a resurgence of a credit card scam specifically targeting the industry. Ensure you verify zip codes and, whenever possible, request credit card payments be made in person.

This scam has recently targeted several Ready Mix companies across East Tennessee. Scammers impersonate Ready Mix companies on Facebook, offering concrete at suspiciously low prices. Unsuspecting homeowners and contractors who place orders through these fake Facebook ads are contacted by the scammers who then use stolen credit card information to order concrete from legitimate producers.

How the Scam Works:

The scammer immediately processes an online payment using the stolen credit card details. They then place an order with a legitimate Ready Mix producer under the guise of the customer. Once the concrete is delivered, the original cardholder discovers the fraudulent charges and contacts their credit card company to dispute them, often successfully. This leaves the Ready Mix producer without payment for the delivered concrete, as the funds are revoked.

Stay vigilant and protect your business by verifying all credit card transactions and customer details.
